Wish I could help you with this one Admin - stressful times - hope someone comes up trumps for you. I'v not heard any bad reports personally and I'm sure she will be very happy and settle well.
We went for an 'introduction' to the school on Tuesday and I must say that we were both very impressed with the staff that we met and the facilites themselves.
Things area lot different from when I started school, there's now a huge emphasis on the general well being of the child. Parent involvement is greatly encouraged and regular feedback is offered.
It's still a worrying time but we're both feeling more settled after visitng the school.

So glad for you - just sorry that no-one else on this community site was able or felt able to reassure you with regard to our village school.:(

Agree its a stressful time. My son (8) goes there. Although it took him a few months to settle in he really enjoys it and has made lots of friends, as you would expect. I think the standard of education and discipline is pretty good and no shortage of homework. Parking /access at pick up drop off times can be a problem although it seems to be much better now given the new car park. Just to be contentious I think teachers get too many holidays and training days:-). It can become quite challenging when both parents are working.

I agree that drop off and pick up at the school can be a scramble. This is not helped by parents parking on zig zags, the pavements and across private drive ways. You will get used to this sort of behaviour after a while though!
My son is very happy at the school in general. The only problems are that the building needs to be expanded to fit the increasing demand for places. The hall is very small for the number of pupils expected to use it but this is a funding issue rather than the fault of the school itself. The school was built in the 1950's as a village school facility. Langstone has been over developed beyond all recognition since then.
I would say it is a good school and I'm sure your child will be very happy there.:)
Thank you for your comments Raymondo and SallieM, reassuring to hear you have positive comments about the school. The new car park will provide and additional 40 spaces when complete but I can imagine it still be oversubscribed but this is a big improvement. We were informed of more expansion plans for the school in order to provide for the demand and they sound very well thought out.
My wife resigned from work when we had our first child and has no plans to return until both children are well into their teens. It is a sacrifice (finacially) but it's what we both want and does negate the problem of school hoidays.
Thank you all for your comments. Perhaps I could create a seperate sub forum for ongoing thoughts, comments and announcements for Langstone School?

Hi
Would be great to have a dedicated subforum for education/schools. My daughter goes to primary school next year and we are keen to know more about Langstone primary - just general parents feelings and happiness of the children, attitude of staff etc. Likewise would like to know if Langstone primary is truly oversubscribed - are we likely to get her in. Should we list secondary and tertiary school suggestions on the application or only the first choice - we would be very interested to know what others have done and think.
Thanks
