My name is Joe Powell and I am 16 years old and am currently studying at St Julian's High School in Newport. I have been lucky enough to be chosen as a member of a small select team to go to Kenya in Africa and work with underprivileged local people. :)

The journey begins in July 2009, and lasts for five weeks in the beautiful landscapes of Kenya. It is spent working with local adults and street kids assisting in building projects such as schools, clinics and orphanages as well as helping to run summer camps. This is a real hands on experience, forging great friendships and strong bonds with the children. It is a chance to see the reality of poverty and help realise how hard people work just to get by. All of this is helping to put money into the economy, create jobs and help aid Africa's poverty stricken nation.

However i have been placed with the massive challenge of raising close to ?3000 to participate in this oppurtunity of a life time. Anything that you could do to help, such as sponsorships, fundraising events/ideas, any advertisement offers etc, would be greatly appreciated and assist tremendously in the teams effort to raise the funds to go on this expedition. If you do choose to go on to help me I will stay in contact, describing how other sponsors are helping and the progression i have made. Also I will contact you after to tell you how it all went. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you would like any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me. If any one is interested leave me a message or respond and i will be very grateful and reply swiftly.
