The Langstone Village Hall is an important part of our community. Over the years, the hall has suffered a lack of funds to carry out vital maintenance and repairs. As a result, the structure is now falling to a level of decrepitude that is causing the trustees concern. We are looking at various funding initiatives from the National Lottery etc, but these grants are limited and difficult to secure.

The main areas requiring immediate rectification are the wiring, broken roof tiles, guttering and drains. The exterior and interior of the hall also needs complete redecoration. We have very little funding available to pay for these repairs, so we desperately need your help. If you are a tradesman that would like to make a donation of materials or labour we would love to hear from you. Soft furnishings such as commercial quality carpets and curtains would also be put to good use. Donations from residents to the restoration fund would in addition, be extremely welcome.

The village hall belongs to the people of Langstone and is a not for profit trust. Please help the trustees to restore this vital village facility to a condition that we could be proud of. The trustees would also welcome any ideas you may have for fundraising.

Please post on here if you can help and I will contact you direct.

Thanks

Sallie Mogford
Community Councillor and Village Hall Trustee.

Sallie,

What's the latest with fund raising efforts? Anybody come forward with any suggestions?

With the summer months approaching, maybe now is the time to see if we can orgnaise some outdoor events.

Great news!

I put in a bid to Veolia for a grant to refurbish the village hall. I have just been told that we have been awarded £28,400 for repairs. It is not the full amount I asked for but enough to do vital repairs and improvements for our shabby facility.

We are also very grateful to Community First who awarded us £1,000 to purchase white goods and equipment for the refurbished kitchen.

Good news,

Look forward to your article in the Community First on this very topic :thumb:

More info about Veolia here http://www.veoliatrust.org/ since I guess most people haven't heard of this initiative
